The Word Hunter Privacy Policy

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide our service:

• Email address (when you sign in)
• Basic usage data (words viewed, videos played, saved words, and quiz activity)
• Completed learning-video exposures, including approximate watch duration, completion percentage, and replay count
• Learning preferences you choose, such as your guide language, goal, interests, daily study time, and starting English range
• Per-word learning data, including recall ratings, review intervals, due dates, and an estimated CEFR range
• Billing information processed securely by Polar / Stripe

If you use a personal learning path without signing in, the profile, completed-video exposure history, and review schedule are stored only in your browser using local storage. If you later choose to sign in, we can import your starting range, goal, interests, and daily target. Anonymous exposure and per-word review history remain on that device; future signed-in progress is saved to your account.

2. How We Use Information

We use your information to provide access, remember your learning choices, select level-appropriate words, avoid unnecessary repeats, choose short memory checks, schedule reviews, explain recommendations, and improve the learning experience. Watching a learning video records exposure only; it does not mark a word as mastered. Hunter XP and your estimated English range are maintained separately. We do not sell your personal data. Billing and payment data is handled entirely by Polar Software, Inc. and Stripe.

3. Third-party Platforms

We use the following platform APIs to distribute our educational content:

• YouTube Data API — to publish vocabulary videos
• TikTok Content Posting API — to publish vocabulary videos
• Instagram Graph API — to publish vocabulary videos
• Facebook Graph API — to publish vocabulary videos
• Polar / Stripe — to process subscription payments

No user data is shared with these platforms beyond what is required for authentication.

4. TikTok API Data

The Word Hunter uses TikTok APIs only to authenticate the site owner and publish English vocabulary learning videos to the connected TikTok account. We do not collect TikTok passwords, sell TikTok account data, or use TikTok data for advertising. Access tokens may be stored securely only for authorized posting. The account owner may revoke TikTok access at any time from TikTok account settings or by contacting us.

5. Data Retention

Account data is retained while your account is active. You can reset your learning profile, completed-video exposure history, per-word recall history, review schedule, and curriculum checkpoint progress from the learning-path settings without deleting Hunter XP or saved words. You may request deletion of your full account at any time by contacting us. Unsigned local learning data can be removed by using Reset learning data or by clearing this site's browser storage.

6. Automated Recommendations

The Word Hunter uses rules based on your selected starting range, learning goal, interests, completed-video exposure history, and recall results to rank words, choose memory checks, and schedule reviews. Viewing alone is never treated as mastery. Recommendations are educational guidance, not an assessment of intelligence or ability. You can adjust or reset the profile at any time.
